Super Moisturizing Lotion

June 20, 2016

I’ve been making my own lotion for almost a year, and I finally have something I really enjoy using. I have fairly sensitive skin, and many lotions were too heavy and made me break out or just took forever to soak in. But one of the reasons I love making my own products is that … More Super Moisturizing Lotion

Simple Switch: Bottled Beverages

June 8, 2016

Bottled beverages are a tricky switch, because while it’s easy to say you should just bring your own bottle and fill it up, it’s not always easy to find what you’d prefer to drink in a refillable form. I’ve never liked pop (aka soda to some of you), so the only bottled items I would buy were … More Simple Switch: Bottled Beverages

This week’s groceries bought from @woolworths_au: everything bought plastic free except the cherry tomatoes (I have no self control around these tasty bois and so far I’m unable to find them unpackaged near me) and chocolate coconut water which is my splurge of the week! These beauties are gonna be either cooked up and served with rice and lentils I bought in bulk and made last night or they’re gonna go into salads which I’ll eat with everything I’ve cooked 😋 What’s on your menu tonight? #livingwastefree
I took a little trip to @wholefoodmerchants and picked up some much needed essentials: 3 shampoo bars all minimally packaged, some locally made lotion, 4 pairs of new socks and three pairs of underwear all from @boodyecowear. I buy a lot of what I wear secondhand, but socks and underwear I do choose to buy new. #livingwastefree
I somehow managed to get sick last week and I stopped posting for a few days, but now I’m feeling better and on a mini-vacation with my friend @ashlee.Lambton in the very cute town of Daylesford. So far we’ve gone second hand shopping at there huge indoor market, gotten a couple’s massage because it’s vacation and someone told me this is the spa capital of Victoria, and had many drinks sans any single use straws. Featured in photo one is a soy latte and a fresh citrus juice with ginger, and picture two is from my lunch where I had a raspberry milkshake (minus the milk).
It’s day 6 of attempting #veganuary (which is just a snazzy name for me attempting to eat no animal products this month to see how it makes me feel and to lessen my environmental impact) and today I went out for a seriously huge vegan brunch. It was delicious, though I’d forgotten my tiffin because I’m not in the habit of carrying it anymore (something I’m trying to get back into) and I had to ask for a plastic to-go box for my leftovers. I couldn’t stand the thought of this feast being thrown out! I plan on reusing the box as often as I can before eventually throwing it into the recycling. #progressnotperfection #livingwastefree
Currently obsessed with fresh cherry tomatoes and beeswax wraps 🐝 The tomatoes are courtesy of the plants my awesome roommate planted at the beginning of summer and the wraps were a Christmas gift. These are the first beeswax wraps I’ve had in over a year and I’d forgotten how handy they can be, especially for keeping weird shaped leftovers like avocado halves fresh. #livingwastefree
Getting back on that plant-based grind. I’ve allowed myself way more animal products the last few months than I normally do, and while I don’t make new year resolutions and generally don’t like to label my diet, I did see that #veganuary was a thing and thought I’d give it a shot. So here’s my first grocery shop of the year and it’s 100% plant based🥭 I stir fried the veggies in a pan (minus the avo) and added some cooked green lentils to make my lunches for the week. I haven’t meal prepped like this since I moved almost a year ago and it feels so good to be getting a routine back. #livingwastefree
